Following the stabbing of a bishop last week, a riot outside a Sydney church resulted in the latest charges being brought against a minor.
Last Monday at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was allegedly stabbed by a 16-year-old while he was preaching live online.
In order to look into the violence that broke out outside the church following the incident, NSW Police established Strike Force Dribs.
A 17-year-old boy went to the Fairfield Police Station today, and at 8:40 a.m., he was taken into custody.
The adolescent was accused of starting a riot, damaging or destroying property, and having an unauthorised handgun.
Bail to appear in a children’s court tomorrow was denied to him.
This is in response to police yesterday asking the public for assistance in identifying 12 males whose photographs they released and claimed they thought could help with the investigation.
There have already been several arrests made.
