Michael Slater, a former Australian Test cricket player, was charged with over a dozen offenses and placed under police remand.
On Monday, Slater, 54, had his case brought up in Maroochydore Magistrates Court.
He was taken into custody on 19 counts stemming from alleged offenses committed on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland on a number of occasions between December 5, 2023, and April 12.
The allegations include ordinary assault, assault resulting in bodily harm, strangling or suffocating, unlawful stalking or intimidation, and breaking into a residence with the purpose to commit a crime at night.
In addition, the TV pundit and former opening batsman was accused of violating bail.
The matter is scheduled to be mentioned in the same court on Tuesday, and Slater has been placed under remand in detention.
Slater played 74 Test matches for Australia after making his debut during the 1993 Ashes tour, scoring 5312 runs at an average of 42.83 with 14 tons of weight.
42 One-Day Internationals were also played by him. In 2004, Slater announced his retirement from cricket to pursue a lucrative career as a TV commentator.
