Two men were hospitalised following a balcony collapse on Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges, one of whom was a paramedic who was on duty.
About 630 p.m. yesterday, paramedics from Victoria Ambulance and volunteers from the State Emergency Service were called to a residence on Tourist Road in Olinda to attend to a patient.
A patient was being treated on top of the balcony by two SES employees and four paramedics when it abruptly collapsed.
Before being extricated and transported to the hospital, the 71-year-old patient was buried beneath the rubble for around thirty minutes.
After being evaluated on the spot, one of the two paramedics was sent to the hospital with minor upper body injuries.
