After a car was stolen, a hotel was allegedly stormed, and police were taken on a lengthy pursuit over the Gold Coast, two males are being held.
According to the police, two males stormed into the Copacabana Hotel in Surfers Paradise this morning at 4.45 a.m. and stole the keys to a Mercedes.
They were allegedly armed. Before leaving the area, they are said to have taken another set of car keys, $3000, and a gold chain.
Hours later, the Mercedes was discovered, and a police helicopter was seen flying close overhead.
As copious resources were sent out across the city to track down the suspected burglars, it was observed dodging and merging into traffic, and it was even reported to have once swerved onto the wrong side of the street.
About 1:35 p.m., authorities pulled up to a Belviah address, discovered the Mercedes, halted it, drew their weapons, and forcibly removed the driver.
Then he was apprehended and placed under arrest without delay.
Police found that a second vehicle, a white BMW, had reportedly been taken from Runaway Bay during their investigations.
They also arrested the driver, who was purportedly the second individual involved.
