Following an alleged stabbing incident close to Newcastle, a man has been charged with murder.
After an alleged assault yesterday afternoon, emergency personnel were called to a residence on Kankool Way in Windale shortly before 3:30 p.m.
After receiving numerous chest stab wounds, a 40-year-old man was sent to Belmont Hospital; nevertheless, he did not survive the emergency operation.
Around 5:00 p.m. yesterday, police in Windale’s Cherry Street neighbourhood took into custody a 21-year-old man.
The victim, 40, was taken to John Hunter Hospital while police examined the murder scene.
The man passed away despite efforts to save him, and the younger man was accused of killing him.
The 21-year-old was denied bail when he appeared in court in Newcastle. The next court date for him is April 3.
