Karl O’Callaghan, the former commissioner of police in Western Australia, is said to have used his car as a getaway car during a high-speed police pursuit.
According to the officers, two sixteen-year-olds in Karrinyup got lost after driving into a dead end.
Concerned neighbours watched from inside their homes as police removed two adolescent males from the Mitsubishi Pajero.
Sienna, a local resident, reported seeing “police officers everywhere, swarming driveways – everywhere”.
“I was in shock about how many police were there,” she stated.
The adolescent driver allegedly attempted to squeeze between two automobiles during the pursuit, which resulted in damage to the vehicle. The passenger and the driver were taken into custody.
When the police attempted to pull down the Pajero on East Street in Maylands at around 10 p.m., they quickly gave up the chase because of the vehicle’s reckless behaviour.
Detectives found the Mitsubishi on Redcliffe’s Tonkin Highway shortly after.
It was being watched by officers from the air until it came to a stop on Spiderlily Mews in Karrinyup.
Next week, the accused adolescent driver will appear in court on charges of careless and unlicensed driving as well as causing property damage.
He freed his passenger without charging him.
