A 22-year-old lady was allegedly attacked randomly in Perth by a guy who is now on trial for her murder.
According to the suspected killer’s sister, who spoke with Mark News, her brother has struggled with mental illness for a long time.
Just a few moments before he was accused of fatally stabbing Melanie Kizenga, Clarence Jalloh was seen on camera.
Wearing a forensics jumpsuit, the 30-year-old appeared in court today to be accused of murder.
“It’s been a lot because we arrived here as refugees.
“I am at a loss for words,” Jalloh’s sister stated.
“I’m shaking, I just received this information yesterday.”
Kizenga was attacked on Saturday night about 8 o’clock while out on a stroll with her cousin. Later, she passed away at a hospital.
Outside of Balga Primary School, where memorials for the 22-year-old are spreading, friends and family have expressed their sorrow over her passing.
A “soul with so much light” and a young lady “filled with love, life, and laughter” were how others characterised her.
Godfrey Mafuta, her uncle, expressed that he was heartbroken.
The magistrate mentioned during the brief court hearing that Jalloh has “a long history of mental illness” and that this may affect his “capacity to make decisions” according to a clinical nurse’s report.
“Really, it’s a sad heart, and nobody should have to die.
Jalloh’s sister stated, “He’s been struggling with his mental health, as the judge mentioned in there.
The 30-year-old was remanded in detention with the option to appear again in one month without having to enter a plea.
Dave Jallah, a community spokesperson for Liberians, stated that they are “feeling very sad.”
We are here today to offer our condolences to the departed family for this reason.
It’s not appropriate for our community to witness,” he declared.
A fundraising page has been established to assist Kizenga’s family with burial expenses.
