Following the discovery of a purported robbery attempt on camera, a guy has been charged.
In the video, a man can be seen entering a Mitchell, Canberra, bottle shop at 5:05 p.m. on February 16 and then allegedly threatening to stab the cashier and demanding money.
According to authorities, the cashier attempted to run away from the man but fell and hurt herself leaving the store.
Soon after, according to police, a nearby shopkeeper “attended the bottle shop and engaged” with the alleged burglar.
In ACT Police’s CCTV footage, he is seen attempting to beat off the suspected robber with a nearby chip display rack.
Before leaving the scene, the accused robber is seen to have dropped the items he had allegedly stolen.
The defendant faces multiple charges, such as intent to possess an offensive weapon, assault resulting in actual bodily harm, and aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon. This morning, he was present in the ACT Magistrates Court.
