A man from Melbourne described the horrifying moment burglars with guns and machetes ambushed his family in their own house.
During the assault in Melbourne’s north, the perpetrators left their victims with facial injuries and bloodstains while taking tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of valuables.
The house in Kalkallo, north of the city, had disguised burglars moving toward the door while brandishing machetes.
They appeared indifferent about being filmed.
Mother, wife, and two small children of Gurinder Singh were afraid for their lives.
“They broke in with the pot as you can see they used whatever they could from outside,” he stated.
“Why was this something I had to go through in my life?
The three criminals, one of whom had a gun, attacked his elderly mother and pillaged the property.
“They dragged my mum out of the stairway, thrown her on the ground they broke her head, so she had a lot of blood coming out of it,” Singh recalled.
She is presently recuperating at home after requiring hospital care.
Singh took many knife blows to his body.
However, he claimed to have “remained calm.”
“I had to give him whatever he demanded and that’s about it,” he stated.
The parents had been saving $10,000 in cash and $30,000 worth of items, including jewelry, for their son’s sixteenth birthday when the thugs absconded.
The culprits went on a 10-minute tirade before leaving.
A fourth drove a getaway car and took them off.
The family want to move and sell up.
“We are all working class families and don’t feel safe,” Singh stated.
