After a house fire in South Australia, 38-year-old mother Krystal Marshall’s body was discovered, and now a woman is the second person accused with her murder.
About 3:30 p.m. on October 20, firefighters were dispatched to a residence on Barracoota Crescent in Aldinga Beach when a neighbor saw smoke coming from the roof.
When the fire was put out, Marshall’s body was found dead in a bedroom.
A day after the fire, a 48-year-old man who was reportedly her alleged killer was charged. It is thought that he was a close friend who was staying at the house at the time.
As of today, Para Hills West police detective superintendent Des Bray reported that a 29-year-old woman has been charged with murder, arson, and tampering with human remains.
“The allegation will be that together those two people, and those two people alone, are responsible for the death of Krystal,” he stated in a press conference.
At Adelaide’s Watch House, the woman was charged and was not granted bail to appear at Adelaide’s Magistrates Court the following day.
According to Bray, the two accused, the victim, and each other were all acquainted.
According to him, Marshall was probably slain on October 19 and the house was burned down the following day.
According to him, there are three individuals that the police feel could help with their investigation into Marshall’s death and the fire.
The first was a potential suspect who knew about the purported murder and filed an anonymous online police report.
“We had 15 or 16 Crime Stoppers reports but that was the only report that detailed specific and intimate knowledge of the crime,” Bray stated.
The second was a blue Holden Astra driver who had pulled up in front of 22 Barracoota Crescent the day before the fire broke out.
Before departing, someone came out to speak with the driver.
The third was a white delivery van driver who pulled up outside Marshall’s house as smoke was starting to appear. He stayed for a while before driving away.
The driver was wearing an orange turban, a green high-vis vest, and dark pants. He is described as a man with facial hair.
“All three of those people are important to the investigation, especially that person who had intimate knowledge,” Bray stated.
“We’d encourage those people to make contact today … ask to speak to our detectives, you can remain confidential if you want to.”
