The driver involved in Friday’s fatal car accident in Melbourne has been pardoned by the parents of the 12-year-old child who was struck by the vehicle.
Kye Duclos walked out onto a Mulgrave road while on his way home from school.
Shortly after taking a selfie on his way home, he was slain while crossing a major junction.
Kye Duclos walked out onto a Mulgrave road while on his way home from school.
He was described as “just a ridiculously amazing kid” by his father Michael.
“It’s the most devastating thing in the world to have happened,” he stated.
When Kye’s parents arrived on the scene, they observed the driver.
“I said, ‘I’m sorry this has happened,’ in a very quick manner. That individual is not at blame, Mr. Duclos stated.
An off-duty paramedic from a mobile critical care unit made a valiant attempt to save Kye’s life.
However, there was no saving the outdoor and fishing enthusiast.
“It was the most horrifying thing I have ever seen,” Mr. Duclos remarked.
“My boy is gone. I have lost the greatest friend a dad could have ever desired.”
Kye’s parents wish to remember their son with a service that honours him and the outdoors, which was his favourite place to be.
No charges have been filed against the involved driver, who has cooperated with the authorities.
