A brawl broke out and a grandfather’s crutch was allegedly taken in Sydney’s west, and the youngster is now in court.
Two student groups are said to have fought at the Fairfield train station on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
It is believed that a 75-year-old man, who was taking care of his small grandchildren, had his crutch stolen to be used as a weapon.
While the brawl was going on, he sliced his arm.
NSW Police said in a statement, “A crutch was taken from a man who was at the station and used during the altercation.”
“Police were notified, with officers attached to Cabramatta Police Transport Command commenced an investigation.”
About 4:45 p.m. yesterday, police said they had taken a 17-year-old boy into custody from a Cabramatta home.
“He was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station and charged with affray and armed with intent commit indictable offence,” according to police.
He was scheduled to appear in children’s court today after being denied bail.
