On the NSW South Coast, a truck-related multi-vehicle incident has left one man dead and three others critically injured.
near approximately 1:50 p.m. today, a car and a truck—possibly a removalist vehicle—collided near the base of Bulli Pass in Thirroul, a northern Wollongong suburb.
Multiple vehicles were involved in the incident, according to NSW Ambulance.
Three males are believed to have been catapulted through the truck’s windscreen during the crash; the deceased man was discovered beneath the flyover.
For over an hour, workers struggled to extricate one of the men who was stuck beneath the car.
After receiving care on the spot, he was brought to Liverpool Hospital.
A second man was evacuated to the trauma unit at Westmead Hospital.
The driver, a woman, was airlifted to St George Hospital in Sydney.
When they were removed from the scene, all three patients’ conditions were critical.
In order to extract occupants from the cars, three fire departments responded to the spot.
Due to the crash’s debris spreading across the nearby road, Bulli Pass is closed southbound at the M1 Princes Motorway and Lawrence Hargrave Drive is closed in both directions.
Drivers are advised to stay away from the area because of the congested and high traffic coming from Bulli’s Park Road.
For the next few hours, it is anticipated that the roads will stay closed.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit will conduct a forensic examination of the crime scene, which has been set up by the police.
