Police shot and killed a 39-year-old man at a motel in a rural area of Queensland.
Just after 11 a.m. today, police were called to Greenhill Road in Ilbilbie, south of Mackay, where they discovered a guy carrying a gun.
According to authorities, the individual threatened the policemen and was then shot.
Superintendent Graeme Paine, the district officer for Mackay, stated that the individual was wanted on multiple additional counts and that police were carrying out a “targetted operation”.
“During the arrest process…it’ll be alleged the male produced a firearm,” stated the officer.
“Officers have subsequently discharged their firearms…police immediately undertook and provided medical assistance and unfortunately he has passed away as a result of his injuries.”
The Crime and Corruption Commission will supervise the Ethical Standards Command’s investigation into this shooting on behalf of the State Coroner.
