At a private wharf in Sydney Harbour, a woman was attacked by a suspected shark, which resulted in serious injuries to her leg.
Several teams, including the helicopter, were dispatched to Billyard Avenue in Elizabeth Bay at approximately 7:45 p.m., according to NSW Ambulance.
The woman lost a large amount of blood; she was probably in her late 20s or early 30s.
It is said that a local veterinarian used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding before the woman was taken in serious condition to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
It is thought that the woman suffered serious damage to her lower right leg.
According to NSW Police, the woman was swimming off the dock when the officers arrived on the scene.
“Marine Area Command are patrolling the area as a precaution,” they stated.
Despite the fact that everything seems to point to the woman being bitten by a shark, Primary Industries will look into this further.
