The electricity grid in Western Australia is in disarray due to storms and extreme weather, and on Saturday, thousands of houses remained without power.
At least 4000 homes and businesses are still without power, according to Western Power, after severe thunderstorms and bushfires affected about 33,000 people.
The areas most impacted by the ongoing outage were the Perth Hills and the area surrounding Kalgoorlie.
According to Zane Christmas, an executive at Western Power, the company’s “aim was to get power back on to most customers in the next few days.”
“There will be some customers who remain without power for a longer duration,” he stated.
Even while there has been a lot of progress, he emphasised there is still much to be done.
“Community and crews’ safety is paramount.”We implore the locals to consider all damaged infrastructure to be alive.”
In the state’s wheatbelt district, 1130 houses were without electricity in the vicinity of Bruce Rock and Meriden.
A further 930 residences in the Mount Helena and east Perth neighbourhoods were impacted.
According to the Western Power outage webpage, at least 4,000 consumers in the entire state were impacted.
Power lines had been brought down by powerful winds, bushfires, and lightning strikes.
A recent extreme heatwave in the state affected the provision of power as well.
