After a reported police chase in Sydney’s southwest escalated into a siege, a suspect has been taken into custody.
According to witnesses, the standoff started at 11 a.m. when a tiny hatchback in Macquarie Fields collided with a fence.
According to witness accounts, a person who was the car’s purported driver escaped on foot and locked himself in a house on Saligna Street.
Locals reported hearing the man yelling and saying he “had a gun.” The individual may have had a gun on him, but the police have not confirmed this.
Other cops, paramedics, and the police dog squad were present at the site.
Eventually, authorities went in to arrest the 25-year-old man, and the locals were instructed to leave the area.
Since then, they’ve gone back home, and the man is still being held by the police. According to officers, he is helping them with their investigations.
