The owner of a Sydney café is hopeful that social media will help identify and apprehend a group of rapacious robbers who stole hundreds of dollars’ worth of baked products off of its front step.
The party was seen in the video hanging at Cafe Lounge Lugarno at around 4 in the morning, taking a peek inside freshly delivered boxes.
As they left the south Sydney cafe with boxes of freshly prepared cakes, pastries, and doughnuts, the party looked to be celebrating.
One of the robbers was seen nibbling into a croissant as another pushed items into a neighboring car.
Jordan Taylor, manager of the cafe, said he was shocked by the incident.
“I just can’t believe this has happened in such a tight-knit community,” he stated.
This is the second time in a year that the well-known cafe has been targeted; the first occurred about eight months ago when a passing bike stole stock crates from the cafe.
Taylor is now appealing to the community in the hopes that someone would identify those accountable for the most recent theft, having unsuccessfully reported the earlier crime to the police.
Although Mark News is unable to identify the accused robbers, the cafe posted the security plan to a Facebook page for the neighborhood and invited anyone with knowledge to come forward.
“It’s just a senseless act, so if anyone does know anyone that did this, please come forward,” Taylor stated.
