Before the fire consumed their entire house and destroyed everything within, a mother and her four children were able to flee.
Just after 1:30 pm today, a fire broke out in the Perth suburb of Rockingham, and firefighters promptly closed off the nearby roadways.
Dozens of firefighters battled to contain the fire as the home’s windows broke and the roof totally fell.
“I thought it was a truck on fire, but when I came out it was a house, it was huge,” a neighbour said.
“Just glass and popping and explosions.”
The thirty-year-old mother received treatment for smoke inhalation but escaped uninjured.
The reason behind the fire is being looked into.
