Accused murderer chuckled in court when his attorney requested a nurse’s examination for him.
Charges against 27-year-old Harrison Hilton-Taylor for the murder of a 46-year-old man were made earlier this week in Melbourne’s southeast.
The man was discovered hurt on the side of the road on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in Hampton East, at the intersection of Little Avenue and Widdop Crescent, according to the police.
Despite efforts by emergency personnel to provide CPR, the man passed away on the spot.
Police verified that none of the men knew one another.
Wearing a black shirt and white vest, Hilton-Taylor appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon via video link from her cell.
The 27-year-old’s attorney, Bronwen Robertson, requested that the man be visited by a nurse while he was being held because he requires medicine for schizoaffective disorder.
Given the volume of CCTV and body-worn camera material that needed to be reviewed, prosecutor Connor Rattray requested more time for police investigators to put together a brief of the evidence.
Following the brief procedural session, Magistrate Phillip Goldberg called for reporters to go on camera and addressed media applications.
The suspect in the murder burst out laughing as media spoke to the magistrate.
He has been placed under arrest pending his next court appearance on May 9.
