After being rescued from the ocean near Port Stephens, New South Wales, a man has passed away and a lady is in critical condition at the hospital.
Just after 2:30 PM, emergency personnel were sent to Stockton Beach, which is located in Anna Bay in Port Stephens, about 3 kilometres south of Birubi Beach. There were reports of four individuals being rescued from the ocean.
The man, 33, passed away at the site despite the efforts of bystanders to resuscitate him, according to the police.
Paramedics attended to the woman before transferring her to John Hunter Hospital in severe condition.
Another individual was brought to the hospital in a stable state. Paramedics attended to a third man.
