On Boxing Day, a big boat carrying eleven persons tragically overturned in waters near Brisbane; three men have been confirmed dead.
After a thorough search effort that aimed to locate two men who had gone missing overnight, authorities announced just before noon today that a 48-year-old and 69-year-old man had been found dead.
Around 5:30 p.m. yesterday, a motorboat capsized in Moreton Bay, just south of Green Island. This prompted a search and rescue effort including volunteers, police divers, water police vessels, and the coast guard.
Eight people were pulled from the water and transported to Manly Harbour, according to police, with non-life-threatening injuries. At 6:15 p.m., authorities discovered a deceased man in the sea.
This morning saw the resumption of the hunt for the remaining two missing soldiers.
The 48-year-old man from the Brisbane suburb of Alexandra Hills and the 69-year-old man from Meridan Plains on the Sunshine Coast are the two males who were retrieved from the water, according to police.
The deceased individual, who lived in Tingalpa, Brisbane, was 59 years old, and was not saved by rescuers yesterday.
Police will compile a report for the coroner after the search is over.
