After a confrontation with police, a guy who was on the roof of an Adelaide residence on Christmas Day was taken into custody.
The automobile carrying a caravan collided and split in two on Marion Road in the southwest of the city early this morning, sparking the commotion.
The accused driver, a 52-year-old man who was homeless, ran away from the scene and took cover on the roof of a nearby house.
Then, according to reports, he threw tiles at nearby homes. When surprised neighbours heard a disturbance coming from their roofs, it was not Santa delivering presents.
“I heard someone stomping really hard,” Pankj Verma, a resident, said.
“Someone was on the roof smashing tiles.”Although it wasn’t how it was intended to happen, it would have been lovely if Santa had come down the chimney.”
Views from inside a house revealed broken glass and falling debris from the ceiling, along with hurled tiles that crashed into an automobile.
After negotiating with the 52-year-old guy for a while, police eventually managed to talk him down from the roof.
After being forced to the ground by police, he was brought to a hospital where he received medical attention.
Since then, the individual has been accused of aggravated reckless driving, entering a building without permission, and causing property damage.
