A 29-year-old man was abducted from his house in Sydney’s southwest, and five armed men are the target of a manhunt.
The police are referring to the crime wave as a targeted strike because it stretched throughout several suburbs.
An ambush on Christmas Eve resulted in the setting of two automobiles on fire and the blasting of a home’s front door.
It was just after midnight when a group of armed people took a man from his residence at Guildford West.
The 29-year-old male was pulled out of the house by the five men as they broke in.
That identical man returned, alone and unharmed, three hours later.
It is thought that the abductors drove their getaway vehicle three miles to Smithfield, where they set it on fire. They then got into another vehicle and set it on fire near Pemulwuy.
“The people that are lighting these cars up will choose these areas because it takes a long time to get noticed, wlloing the car to burn burn, and burn well,” Tony Picone, the acting superintendent, said.
“There was some sort of explosion and, I thought, ammunition in the car, because fragments and it was quite loud,” a witness stated.
A adjacent Mazda was melted by the fire’s extreme heat.
“I heard loud bangs and that and I just seen the car on fire so I came down, checked my car because my car is melted too from the smoke,” said the driver of the vehicle.
According to locals, the suspected abductors then got into a third getaway car, a ute, and left Pemulwuy.
Police stated there was a deliberate attack and that they were looking into possible gangland connections.
