Residents in Far North Queensland affected by flooding will have the opportunity to apply tomorrow for additional financial support while their communities begin to evaluate the damage and rebuild.
Applications for the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment and Disaster Recovery Allowance, which are available to individuals who were directly affected by the tragic floods, will open at 2 p.m. (AEST), according to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Those who have experienced a significant injury or have a badly damaged or destroyed house as a result of the flooding are entitled for a one-time payment of $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible kid.
A catastrophe recovery allowance, on the other hand, will offer eligible employees or sole proprietors who suffer a loss of revenue due to the floods up to 13 weeks of federal income support.
Those who work and reside in the local government areas of Cairns, Cassowary Coast, Cook, Douglas, Hope Vale, Mareeba, Tablelands, Wujal Wujal, and Yarrabah are eligible for funding.
