A fifteen-year-old girl is accused of stabbing a boy at a northern suburbs high school in Perth.
Shortly after 10 a.m. (AWST) today, Carine Senior High School received a call from emergency services.
According to the police, during the first period, the girl stabbed a 16-year-old male.
The boy’s injuries were deemed non-life-threatening when he was brought to Royal Perth Hospital.
In the hospital, the girl also received medical care.
No additional pupils were involved, according to the police.
WA Police had earlier said, “There is no threat to the school or the wider community, the situation is contained.”
“The WA Police Force is working closely with the Department of Education to resolve some sensitive and complex issues involved with this incident.”
Damian Shuttleworth, the principal of Carine Senior High School, wrote to parents.
“I want to reassure you that police attended, the situation was quickly contained and there is no cause for ongoing concern,” Shuttleworth stated.
“We have prioritised support for staff and students following this incident.”
Tomorrow is the girl’s scheduled appearance in Perth Children’s Court.
