A well-known priest in Queensland is accused of numerous past child sex offenses.
Eight counts of improper treatment of a youngster under fourteen were brought against Dave Lancini, 77.
According to the allegations, the abuse took place in the Townsville area between 1969 and 1971.
Prior to joining the Townsville Archdiocese for thirty years, Lancini served at Charters Towers, Mount Isa, and Ayr.
In a statement, the Diocese of Townsville said: “Father Dave Lancini vehemently rejects any involvement in the alleged offenses.
“Father Dave Lancini is currently not involved in any public ministry until such time as the legal proceedings have concluded.”
2020 saw his retirement from the Townsville Archdiocese.
On December 5, Lancini is scheduled to appear in Townsville Magistrate Court.
