A five-year-old kid drowned in floodwaters in the Central West of New South Wales, and a driver has been charged with manslaughter.
When a Toyota Hilux was washed off The McGrane Way and into the water in September of last year, emergency services were dispatched to Tullamore, which is located roughly 100 kilometers southwest of Dubbo.
A five-year-old boy was trapped and perished, according to the police, while the male driver, a mother, and two children managed to escape.
About two hours passed before the four who had escaped were discovered by the occupants of another car that had been swept away and discovered them still clinging to trees.
After being saved by boat, they were brought to a Dubbo hospital. The five-year-old’s body was still inside the Hilux when police combed the area the next day.
The 38-year-old driver of a Hilux was accused by police on Thursday with manslaughter, reckless driving resulting in death, and dangerous driving resulting in death.
Remanded in custody to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on January 18, he was denied bail.
