When the Woolworths delivery driver in Perth began his shift on Saturday morning, he was threatened and held at gunpoint.
Around 5.10 a.m. (local time), police said a 26-year-old guy in the parking lot outside the Woolworths Thornlie Square shop threatened the employee with a revolver.
After that, the man allegedly drove the supermarket truck through South Perth at high speed and confronted two bystanders.
Around six in the morning, police located the truck in Greenfields, close to Mandurah, and took the man into custody after he allegedly refused to stop and tried to flee.
After the terrifying event, the driver went back to his house and will now take some paid time off to heal.
A Woolworths representative said, “We are extremely happy that our driver is safe and we’ll continue to support him after this terrifying incident.”
“We are assisting police with their investigations.” The Maddington man is scheduled to appear in court at a later time. He is currently charged with nine counts, including aggravated armed robbery and unlicensed person possess firearm/ammunition.
