In the Pacific nation of Palau, a woman has been taken into custody on charges of attempting to kill her former spouse in South Australia on multiple occasions.
mama of two On behalf of the serious criminal investigation section of the SA Police, Lisa Lines, 43, was taken into custody by Palauan law enforcement and subsequently placed under detention in Koror.
Author and instructor at a university, Lines faces two counts of attempted murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
Zacharia Bruckner, 36, was also taken into custody by Queensland Police and is facing charges linked to conspiracy to commit murder.
Right now, South Australian police are requesting his extradition, and he is in court in Brisbane.
The long sequence of events started in 2017 when Lines hired young editor Bruckner to work for her publishing house.
He moved into Lines’ Adelaide home with her ex-husband Jonathan Hawtin. It is reported that Lines was seeing Bruckner when her marriage to her husband ended in divorce in 2017. However, it is also reported that Lines was in a relationship with a lady.
An axe attack occurred in 2017 in Adelaide Hills, targeting Hawtin. Bruckner had an abdominal gunshot wound in the same incident.
Lines’ girlfriend was reportedly seen looking into Hawtin’s room while he was healing in a rehabilitation facility. Hawtin was paralysed from the neck down as a result of his injuries.
Although she was led away by police, it is reported that she was brought here by Lines in order to suffocate Hawtin with a pillow.
After the reported axe attack, Hawtin was suspected of shooting Bruckner and was put on trial for attempted murder.
During the trial, Bruckner stated that he attacked with an axe out of self-defense. Nevertheless, a jury found Hawtin not guilty of the accusation throughout the trial.
2020 saw Lines depart Australia and bring her two kids to Taiwan, where there is no extradition agreement between Australia and Taiwan. In 2021, yellow Interpol alerts were issued for both children.
Following Lines’ arrival in Palau yesterday, major crime detectives in South Australia executed an arrest warrant for attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Additionally, according to police allegations, Lines and Bruckner were planning to hire a contract killer in order to quiet Hawtin and his mother as recently as 2023.
The local police in Palau are still receiving assistance from major crime detectives and Australian Federal Police officials in order to extradite Lines to South Australia.
