A man is accused of stealing a getaway car and running from the police in Adelaide while barefoot, according to CCTV that surfaced online.
Police on patrol in the area saw the incident start with a burnout in a Holden ute, after which he allegedly fled on foot after a tyre burst.
About 1pm today, motorists in Blakeview, one of the city’s northern suburbs, were compelled to lock their doors and roll down their windows while stopped at a traffic light.
“Get down, my friend. The man was removed by police from the driver’s car door and told to “get on the ground.”
The driver, Kenny, said, “I thought it was funny until he tried to get into my car.” The twenty-one-year-old attempted thief was apprehended.
The ute was reportedly stolen on Thursday from Athelstone and had stolen number plates.
The “hoon” was detained, according to police, for using a car without permission and for a number of other moving violations.
