In Sydney and Melbourne, thousands of people have demonstrated in support of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Tens of thousands rallied at Hyde Park in support of Palestinians and a ceasefire in Gaza, while 5,000 demonstrators in Sydney’s Moore Park demanded the release of the 240 Israeli captives held by Hamas.
Despite the fact that a substantial number of officers were deployed, no arrests or incidents were reported by NSW Police.
Marchers in support of Palestine also gathered in Melbourne, beginning at the State Library Victoria.
Penny Wong, the foreign minister, communicated with both parties.
“We all want to move toward a ceasefire, but it can’t be unilateral. There are captives held by Hamas, she said.
She was not done talking to Australia.
“We cannot let this disagreement split us apart. We must never forget our shared humanity or the fact that we are all Australians,” the woman remarked.
