At the Port Adelaide Christmas Pageant, a car that got out of control gave everyone quite the scare.
After the vehicle crashed through a barrier and just missed the participants by metres, shock victims needed medical attention.
When the Christmas pageant was ready to start at 11 a.m., a car broke over a barrier in Baynes Place in Port Adelaide, prompting the dispatch of paramedics.
In a nearby parking lot, the car’s driver experienced medical complications.
Abruptly, her car passed beneath a railway bridge, then through a barricade, through the throng and finally into a fence.
Witnesses claimed that as the automobile reached up to 60 km/h, marchers from the Royal Society for the Blind were only a few metres away.
Bianca Smith reported witnessing the incident.
“My husband just actually swore because there was a massive bang and he ran towards it,” she continued.
The 57-year-old Salisbury resident who was operating the vehicle was transported to the hospital for observation.
Moreover, paramedics provided shock treatment to a number of witnesses.
The contest started 20 minutes later than scheduled due to the crash.
