In connection with the shooting death of a young father in New South Wales during a house invasion in the Hunter area of last year, a second man has been charged.
Emergency services were called to Traders Way near Heddon Greta, some 20 km east of Cessnock, at around 10.50 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in response to reports of a man who had been shot.
The victim was treated by paramedics from NSW Ambulance, however he passed away there.
Afterwards, Zachery “Zac” Davies-Scott, 25, who goes himself “Donnie” among the locals, was recognised as the man.
Before Davies-Scott was shot to death in what is thought to have been a botched home invasion, police were informed that a group of individuals had allegedly forced entrance into the Heddon Greta residence.
Additionally, a 52-year-old woman was slightly hurt while trying to fend off the suspected attackers.
Unharmed, other family members who were present at the time saw the occurrence, including Davies-partner Scott’s pregnant wife and two of her children, ages two and four.
Shortly after the incident, the party is said to have driven off in a white SUV that was observed heading on Main Road in Heddon Greta.
Detectives from the strike force apprehended a white 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander on a street in Boolaroo, close to Newcastle, in February 2023.
This week, one man was taken into custody, charged, and is still in court.
After conducting more investigations, police executed a search warrant in Cessnock yesterday morning and took into custody a 24-year-old man.
He was denied bail to appear in court today after being charged with murder.
