Three weeks after his establishment was devastated by fire, the proprietor of a high-end restaurant in Melbourne has lost it all.
Matti Fallon observed his Mornington restaurant, Colt Dining, catch fire. It is believed that an electrical fire was caused by a leak.
As the fierce fire took root and spread, guests inside and in other restaurants scrambled to safety as it swiftly spread to other Main Street establishments.
“I’ve only recovered from brain surgery a couple of years ago,” Fallon stated. “To get back on top, now we’re back on top, to get it all smashed away, it’s just heartbreaking really.”
Fallon and his business partner Paul Goddard were already accepting reservations for the upcoming year due to the restaurant’s immense popularity.
A restaurant serving Afghan food and a bakery were among the other companies that suffered damage. “No one was hurt, no one was killed, it’s just material stuff but yeah it’s tough,” added Goddard.
Because the historic building is in danger of collapsing, crews kept a close eye on the area for the majority of the day, although entry proved challenging.
Despite its recent opening, Colt Dining was already building a name for itself with its sophisticated menu and lively record collection.
But the very combustible vinyl added to the flames. Fallon and Goddard have vowed to rebuild and reopen to continue the trip they had just begun together, despite the fact that it will be extremely challenging.
