After allegedly biting a police officer and sending authorities on a fast-paced chase through Sydney’s inner west, a man has been charged.
Just before midnight last night, amid an hour-long pursuit throughout Five Dock, Strathfield, Homebush, Auburn, and Ashfield, police claim the guy drove at 140 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Parramatta Road.
The automobile is said to have driven onto sidewalks and onto the wrong side of the road several times.
When the car was stopped on the side of the road in Five Dock, according to the police, they initially went up to the man on Great North Road. “Police will allege in court that when the officers returned to their vehicle, the sedan rolled backwards into the police car,” the NSW Police said in a statement.
“After that, the vehicle supposedly took off. A chase was started when it did not stop as instructed.”
The black Nissan Infiniti sedan was seen on CCTV and dashcam allegedly speeding on Parramatta Road through the suburbs. “The vehicle continued on Parramatta Road before the pursuit was terminated due to the dangerous manner of driving,” the statement reads.
“The sedan crashed into a pole and came to a stop at the intersection of Liverpool and Parramatta Roads at Ashfield about 1.10am today.”
Officers detained the driver, a 38-year-old man, at the site. Authorities claim that throughout the arrest, the man fought and resisted them, leaving minor bite marks on several of the responding cops.
One officer had a minor leg injury, therefore they were sent to the hospital. Under police protection, the 38-year-old male was also brought to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he is still being held.
Since then, he has been accused of five offenses, including reckless driving and narcotics possession.
