In Queensland’s Gladstone district, a wildfire that has gotten out of control has destroyed one house and another building.
Residents are being advised not to return despite the fire being lowered to a watch and act level.
The fire between Oceania Court and Muller Road, which is currently blazing in the Deepwater neighbourhood next to Agnes Water, is still being fought by firefighters.
A significant blaze has started, and residents in the Gladstone region of Queensland are being asked to evacuate.
After midnight, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) had issued an emergency alert for Deepwater; however, at around three in the morning, this had been changed to a watch and act level.
“It is moving in the direction of Baffle Creek’s Muller Road and Pacific Drive. It is unsafe to return if you left the area, the QFES warns.
Property between Capricornia Drive, Pacific Drive, Oceania Court, and Muller Road, including Sorensen Road, is affected by the warning.
Residents are being cautioned about probable property damage and that although the fire situation has improved, it could yet swiftly deteriorate.
