In the Northern Rivers region, a volunteer with the Rural Fire Service passed away while on the job.
Despite the use of an AED, the volunteer fireman who had a medical emergency near Bean Creek in the Kyogle area was unable to be revived, according to NSW RFS.
Additionally, paramedics were on the scene. Rob Rogers, the commissioner of RFS, described the untimely demise as tragic.
“This is a terrible tragedy, where a volunteer helping protect his community has paid the ultimate sacrifice,” Rogers stated in a statement.
“At this tragic time, our sympathies are with his family, friends, and fellow firefighters. We are providing his family and other brigade members with all of our support.
