At a bail hearing a few days before to being charged with the accident, the girlfriend of a man accused of causing a deadly high-speed collision in Sydney acknowledged recording her boyfriend.
Tiana Savignano, 22, is charged with withholding information from law enforcement regarding the vehicle accident in which her partner Johnson Kokozian, 20, is purportedly at fault.
He is accused of driving an SUV that struck and killed two siblings, Alina Kauffman, 24, and Ernesto Salazar, 15, when it crashed into their vehicle.
According to police, Kokozian crashed the Mercedes-Benz AMG while traveling at a speed that was almost twice the posted 50 km/h limit. After that, he allegedly fled the scene.
During a September 3 bail hearing in Parramatta Local Court, Savignano entered a guilty plea on Tuesday to the charge of aggravated reckless driving resulting in death.
Three days later, when she returned to Liverpool Local Court to support her partner, she was detained.
On November 27, the Cecil Park woman will receive her sentence for the unlawful filming incident. She, Kokozian, and his father are accused by the police of discussing a cover story and lying to authorities after the crash.
Cruz Pamoana Davis-Tuka, a friend of Kokozian’s, has also been accused of aiding in the crime’s concealment.
On November 1, Savignano and Davis-Tuka will both appear in Campbelltown Local Court to hear the prosecution’s brief about their alleged concealment of the Heckenberg crash.
Savignano faces 31 more driving infractions unconnected to the fatal collision, such as speeding, driving under the influence, using a phone while driving, and transporting an unrestrained child in a vehicle.
On Monday, she entered a not guilty plea to each of these counts at Liverpool Local Court.
