Following a deadly plane crash north of Adelaide, the victims have been identified as a father and son.
Yesterday, two hours north of Adelaide, at Redhill near Crystal Brook, a light aircraft carrying pilot Ben Mumford, 50, and his son Charlie, 24, crashed into power lines.
The grass fire was started by the plane and extinguished by CFS after it crashed into the ground.
Lachlan Mumford, another of Ben’s sons, is said to have been among the first to arrive on the scene.
He assisted in pulling his brother and father from the wreckage before being admitted to the hospital due to personal burns.
The 50-year-old pilot passed away at the site, and his son passed almost immediately after he was transported to Royal Adelaide Hospital.
The deaths, according to Michael Hammill, had shocked the town.
“They were just a wonderful family,” he stated. “Ben was the first one to come and see you and make sure you’re alright.”
The day was spent investigating the scene by major crash officers.
Additionally present are investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
