After they allegedly used axes to attack laborers at a mine site in the Northern Territory, two men have been accused.
Around two in the morning on September 30, according to the NT Police, up to five criminals broke into a mine site on the island of Groote Eylandt, some of them allegedly carrying axes.
In a statement, NT Police stated that “one worker was threatened with an axe while another was struck in the chest with a blunt object, suffering a laceration to their chest.”
“A window was smashed, resulting in an eye injury to a third worker.” According to the police, the group damaged the building.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Day stated, “Investigations are still ongoing, and police would like to thank the local community for their assistance in this matter.”
Six charges, including severe assault and criminal damage, were brought against a 17-year-old.
He was granted bail and is scheduled to appear in court the following month.
Six of the same charges as the adolescent were brought against a 20-year-old who was found to have recklessly endangered serious harm. He was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court the following month.
