A significant single-vehicle traffic collision occurred on Friday night at a Queensland Raceway event in Willowbank, a suburb of Ipswich, which is being investigated by police.
Around 5.30 p.m., an automobile on the racecourse repeatedly overturned while spewing smoke. While the passenger suffered significant injuries and was also rushed to the hospital for treatment, the driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The tragedy happened during the Powercruise #93 event, which is being held in Willowbank from September 7 to 10.
The organization behind the event, Powercruise Promotions, claims that it “offers its customers the opportunity to push their cars’ performance levels to the limits in a number of driving events that are conducted in a controlled and safe alcohol-free environment” on its “About Us” page.
The four-day event will continue over the weekend, according to a statement published on Friday evening by Powercruise Promotions on their social media channels.
“Powercruise acknowledges that a single vehicle incident occurred at Queensland Raceway during one of today’s cruising sessions,” the company said.
We would like to thank QAS for their help by road and air, as well as the track medical and fire response for arriving on the spot right away.
Investigations are being helped by the Forensic Crash Unit for Workplace Health and Safety.
