While a court awaits the results of the post-mortem investigation into the death of dementia patient Clare Nowland, Senior Constable Kristian White is still out on bail.
After 95-year-old Ms. Nowland was Tasered in a nursing home, a NSW police officer was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
On Wednesday, White, 33, and his companion held firm in the face of media outside Cooma Local Court and he kept his mouth shut despite being barraged with questions.
The NSW Director of Public Prosecutions had received harsh criticism from Magistrate Roger Clisdell for allowing White to connect by video link for his initial court appearance in July.
However, White has been permitted to skip court until his committal hearing.
When Clare Nowland was allegedly observed using a walking frame and a steak knife at the nursing home in the southern NSW town of Cooma in May, White allegedly fired his stun pistol at her.
The grandma suffered a broken skull when she fell and banged her head; a week later, she passed away at Cooma Base Hospital.
The event resulted in White’s suspension from the NSW Police Force with pay.
October 4 has been appointed as the next court date.
