At a residence in Queensland, to the northwest of Brisbane, a woman perished after the ceiling collapsed on top of her.
This afternoon, as the 64-year-old was standing in the kitchen of a home in East Nanango, the ceiling collapsed, burying her beneath the debris.
About 1.30pm, emergency personnel arrived and attempted to rescue her.
She was given CPR, however she passed away at the spot.
An investigation has been opened, and it will likely look into the possibility that a poorly executed home remodeling may have caused the fall of the ceiling.
A police report will be made for the coroner.
