After being shot in Wetherill Park last Friday and being taken to the hospital, an 18-year-old will appear in court today on charges.
At around 7.50 p.m. on August 25, the kid arrived at a hospital in western Sydney with a gunshot wound, necessitating emergency surgery.
A shooting had reportedly occurred at Blackfriar Place in Wetherill Park some 35 minutes earlier.
At the crime scene, forensic investigators seized a phone and bullet cartridges.
According to the first police reports, the 18-year-old and three other guys were standing next to a ute when a black SUV came by and reportedly fired rounds at them.
However, it was the hurt adolescent who was taken into custody yesterday just after being released from the hospital.
He was transported to Merrylands Police Station, where he was charged with possessing a handgun without a license or authorization, buying a prohibited firearm, and being a member of a criminal organization.
He allegedly violated his bail conditions, according to the police.
The man’s application for bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today was denied.
Police are still looking into the incident, and they haven’t ruled out making more arrests.
Superintendent Michael McLean, the area commander for Fairfield City Police, stated that the community shouldn’t put up with violent behavior that makes them feel afraid.
According to McLean, “NSW Police will continue to conduct high-visibility police operations and actively pursue those who commit violent acts.”
