The community at a high school in Victoria is coping with the teacher’s arrest on campus on suspicion of child abuse.
In respect to six counts of sexual penetration of a minor that are said to have occurred at sites in Greater Bendigo between May and August of this year, the 35-year-old was in front of a closed court hearing yesterday.
The principal of the school informed parents and carers of the teacher’s arrest in an email this week.
If they had any worries about their child, he advised them to get in touch with the school.
The principal wrote, “I understand that this subject is highly distressing for us all and will touch many people in various ways.
The student wellbeing team at the school is ready to help any students who require assistance in light of this information.
The Victorian Education Department also responded to the accusations with a statement.
“We encourage anyone who has experienced any type of abuse as a current or former student at a Victorian government school to report it to both the Department of Education and Victoria Police,” a department representative said.
“The health, wellbeing, and safety of all students is our top priority, and our schools are committed to providing a learning environment where children and young people are safe, feel safe, and have their voices heard.”
The accused individual was granted bail and is scheduled to appear in court once more in November.
