After her teenage son suffered serious injuries in a “completely unprovoked” attack in Perth, a worried mother has spoken out.
A group of four males jumped Louis Hadfield, 17, as he was walking through the Scarborough beachfront area on Saturday night.
Hadfield is now suffering from a bulging disc, ligament sprains, and a spinal brace.
The incident, according to his mother Claudine Hadfield, was “senseless”.
The mother remembered, “You need to come now, Lou’s really really bad, he’s covered in blood, he’s been attacked. [I] got a phone call from one of the girls.”
“When we arrived, the sight was rather upsetting.
Four boys attacked him; they got out of a car and started beating him up.
The remainder of the season will be lost for the Perth RedStars’ 17-year-old striker, who faces an unsure recovery.
His mother stated, “We hope this doesn’t do anything to him to discourage him from continuing down that track. He’s doing great with his football.
He shouldn’t be living in terror of this happening, but he will.
“At 17, he ought to be excited about going out with his friends.”
One accused attacker, according to police, had black complexion and dreadlocks. The vehicle was a white Volkswagen Tiguan, according to the police.
Two years prior, fellow RedStars player Danny Hodgson had experienced a comparable random attack.
We’re somewhat surprised that this can still occur in Perth. It must end, Mrs. Hadfield emphasized.
