In what police characterised as a harrowing case of alleged domestic abuse, a 37-year-old man appeared in court charged with the murder of his former partner.
Tiffany Woodley was discovered dead at a house in Perth on Monday night, and her alleged killer was apprehended there.
The mother, 35, had sustained severe injuries, but investigators did not believe a weapon was used.
Peter Damjanovic appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with Woodley’s murder.
He was not obliged to enter a plea and was remanded in jail until August 30 to appear in court.
According to Inspector Geoff DeSanges, first responders were confronted with a “horrific, confronting scene” on Tuesday.
“A woman died last night as a result of extreme violence,” he stated.
“Any form of violence, especially violence against women, children, or other vulnerable victims, is unacceptable.”
“In our town, family and domestic violence is a scourge.
“This violence must stop; everyone has the right to feel safe, particularly at home.”
Tiffany Woodley, 35, was discovered dead inside her home on Birkett Street in Bedford after emergency services were contacted at 5 p.m. yesterday.
DeSanges described Woodley’s relationship with her alleged murderer as a complicated domestic relationship.
He stated that the individual had lived at the Bedford residence “on and off for some time.”
Members of Woodley’s family were scheduled to appear at a press conference later that day.
