The chief prosecutor for the ACT, who oversaw Bruce Lehrmann’s criminal prosecution, has resigned.
A devastating report on the way the legal system handled the case resulted to Shane Drumgold’s resignation.
Since May, he has been on paid leave.
Attorney General Shane Rattenbury said in a statement that he and Drumgold had agreed that Drumgold’s position was “no longer tenable.”
Early in the upcoming week, the ACT Government will issue a comprehensive statement in response to the Sofronoff Report, according to Rattenbury.
