Independent senator Lidia Thorpe was unable to travel to Canberra for the current parliamentary sitting week because she was hurt in a minor vehicle accident in Melbourne.
Her media staff stated that Thorpe suffered whiplash and bruises as a result of the crash last week.
It’s thought the senator was rear-ended while she was still in her automobile.
Thorpe received advice not to go to Canberra for the first week of the new parliament because of the small wounds.
Next week, the former Greens senator is anticipated to return to the legislature.
